Request special collections materials from UNC or Duke electronically

By Lynn Eades September 14, 2016

The Health Sciences Library (HSL) proudly announces that special collections materials can now be requested electronically using the UNC/Duke Special Collections Library Request System. Researchers can use this system to request materials, as well as track the history of previously made requests. This is the same system used by UNC’s Wilson Special Collections Library and Duke University’s David M. Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library.

Items in HSL Special Collections range in date from the 1500s to the present day, encompassing the history of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, public health, and the allied medical sciences. The history of the health sciences in North Carolina is strongly represented. Materials may be used in the Benson Reid Wilcox Historical Collections Reading Room (5th floor). To access these collections, researchers must register and create an account at https://unc.aeon.atlas-sys.com/

HSL Special Collections is open from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday-Friday. Appointments are strongly encouraged. To make an appointment, email the Special Collections staff at SpecialCollections@unc.edu.
