Department of Allied Health Sciences

The Department of Allied Health Sciences (DAHS), in UNC’s School of Medicine, has over 400 students studying in 16 degree programs and 1 undergraduate minor across 7 divisions (Clinical Laboratory Science, Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling, Physician Assistant Studies, Physical Therapy, Radiologic Science, and Speech and Hearing Sciences). The Department also includes a collaborative degree completion program in Neurodiagnostics and Sleep Science with UNC-Charlotte. Degree programs range from entry level professional certificates to advanced professional doctorates and PhD’s, and many are ranked in the top tier of their discipline nationally. Three post professional degree residencies are offered in conjunction with UNC Medical Center. The Department has several Centers, as a number of other clinical endeavors. Faculty and students are engaged in a wide range of research activities.

School of Dentistry

The School of Dentistry is North Carolina’s first dental school. It enrolls 540 students annually and offers classes in each of the nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association.

School of Medicine

The School of Medicine offers degrees in the fields of medicine, allied health sciences, and biomedical sciences, as well as combined degree programs like the MD/PhD, MD/MPH, and the MD/MBA. The School enrolls 180 students annually and is ranked 2nd in Primary Care.

School of Nursing

The School of Nursing at UNC-Chapel Hill is nationally recognized as one of the premiere nursing schools in the country. It offers a full complement of nursing education programs, as well as the first PhD program in North Carolina. It has 534 undergraduate and graduate students in 6 degree programs.

Eshelman School of Pharmacy

The Eshelman School of Pharmacy is the #1 pharmacy school in the nation. It offers PhD, MS and Pharm.D. programs as well as fellowships, residencies and continuing education opportunities.

Gillings School of Global Public Health

The Gillings School of Global Public Health is the #1 public school of public health in the nation. It offers instruction in Biostatistics, Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Epidemiology, Health Behavior, Health Policy and Management, Maternal and Child Health , Nutrition and Public Health Leadership to about 1,700 students.
