Sarah Wright, Reference Librarian, guides the user through literature searching.

Hi, my name is Sarah, and I’m one of the reference librarians here at the Health Sciences Library.

Welcome to UNC.

Today I’m going to speak to you briefly about the databases that we have available in the database searching tools that we have for you here through the Health Sciences Library.

Here at the Health Sciences Library, we have a variety of databases that you can search.

Make sure you start your searching from HSL’s home page, so that you can access the electronic journals and articles that we have available here through UNC.

In this blue box we have the database search tab. If you click on the search box here, you can type in your search term and it will search PubMed. If you would like to go to the PubMed home screen.

You can click on search PubMed and here you see the PubMed homepage where you can type in your search terms We have a variety of other databases available.

We have CINAHL for nursing and allied health, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar. If you click on the more button you will see additional databases that we have available here at HSL.

As you can see we have access to Embase, we have access to evidence-based practice, Databases such as Cochrane Library and also Eric, PsycInfo, and Sociological Abstracts.

If you need help with your literature search reference librarians here at the Health Sciences Library are available to help you.

We can help formulate search strategies, work with you on research or systematic reviews, or any other search questions that you have.

Through the Ask a Librarian tab on the Health Sciences Library homepage, you can complete this form with your question, your contact information, and most importantly the dates and times you are available.

A reference librarian will get back to you as soon as possible. Also if you have a quick question that we can answer remotely you can use the chat now link feature on the HSL webpage. Through the chat we have a librarian staffing the chat desk from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday, and we can answer quick questions for you in real time.
