Hi, I’m Jennifer, a reference librarian at the UNC Health Sciences Library.

Did you know that we provide services and support for our partners at UNC Healthcare?

Take a look at our website to find out how the Health Sciences Library and the Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Department at UNC Healthcare came together in a joint effort to build and curate a guide on Healthcare Quality and Safety.

The page includes news, ejournals, ebooks, guidelines, tools, and links to organizations in support of patient safety and quality improvement. So let’s take a look.

From the Health Sciences Library homepage, click on Find in the blue menu bar at the top and then click on subject guides.

From here the Healthcare Services and Administration link will lead you to several other guides that you may find helpful.

But today, we’re going to take a quick look at Healthcare Quality and Safety.

Some of the features I’d like to point out are the instant PubMed searches that cover areas of concern for clinicians and administrators and information technology professionals in a hospital setting such as CAUTI, meaningful use, Six Sigma, and staffing effectiveness.

The guidelines and measures tabs point you to websites where you can find specific guidelines or measure sets.

Our librarians can also assist you in locating specific guidelines or if you’re looking for help in developing your own.

Lastly we’ve organized a section with names to local, regional, and national organizations that contribute to healthcare quality and safety initiatives.

As always contact us at any time using the Ask A Librarian link found at the top of each page.
