RESOURCE TIP: Use ClinicalKey to watch Procedures Consult Videos
Elsevier’s ClinicalKey includes all of the content from many of their other clinical resources, including Procedures Consult. While the Library no longer subscribes to the Procedures Consult interface separately, you now have access to FAR more of its video content than you did when we subscribed to just a few sections of it.
Procedures Consult articles each include detailed video, text and illustrations covering top medical procedures, with a focus on patient safety guidelines. Each includes discussion of indications, contraindications, anatomy, equipment used, complications, etc, with references. You can find them most easily by a) selecting Procedures Consult from the search box dropdown within ClinicalKey or b) browsing the entire list of Procedures Consult videos.
Elsevier groups them into Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopaedics, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Training Physician, and Cardiology categories. Some examples :
- Nasogastric Intubation (Training Physician)
- Compartment Syndrome Evaluation (Emergency Medicine)
- Axillary Lymph Node Dissection (General Surgery)
- Forceps Delivery (Family Medicine)
While intended primarily for physicians, surgeons, physician assistants and nurse practitioners, these articles are of interest to anyone with a need for detailed, practical information and demonstration of medical/surgical techniques and procedures.
