New PubMed (beta)

By wp_aedile February 19, 2020

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) has launched a new PubMed search interface that will replace the original PubMed in Spring 2020. Currently, users can access both versions through the HSL website’s quick links box while NLM continues to improve the new, beta interface. Features of New PubMed include improvements around:

  • Search experience on desktop and mobile devices.
  • Citing and sharing references.
  • Access within search results to relevant articles.

Further, many of the existing features of the original PubMed will be available in New PubMed, including the advanced search page, search filters, MeSH database, and MyNCBI.

Note that some features of New PubMed are not fully functioning in the beta version, so you may experience minor issues with the new interface over the next few months. Currently, the Find @ UNC full text feature is working intermittently. If you experience issues around Find@UNC or any other features, we recommend that you use the original PubMed.

If you have questions about the New PubMed, contact the Health Sciences Library. Several resources are also available from NLM including:
