The recognition is awarded to individuals who complete a series of rigorous assignments, including planning special events and mentoring new club members, on a self-paced training program.

“One of the most rewarding Toastmasters’ leadership development activities, for me, in the two campus clubs hosted by the Health Sciences Library is learning and practicing mentoring skills,” said Allegri. “Seeing the growth in confidence and presentation skills of students, postdocs, and visiting faculty is amazing! And I learn about cutting edge research in nanotechnology, water quality, cancer epidemiology, and more.”

The Toastmasters program involves working and communicating with people from a wide variety of professions and vocations. Through these interactions, participants gain a valuable awareness of the community in which they live and work. The HSL hosts weekly meetings of Bell Tower Toastmasters Club on Tuesday’s from 12 – 1 p.m. in room 329. A second club, After Five Bell Tower Toastmasters, meets at HSL on Wednesdays 5:30-6:30pm in room 527. The meetings are open to the public and require no advance registration to attend. You can learn more about the club at http://belltower.toastmastersclubs.org/.
