HSL Guides: Connecting Users to Helpful Resources

By Lynn Eades September 14, 2016

UNC Health Sciences Library (HSL) staff members have created a collection of subject guides and “how to” tutorials to help users build their information seeking skills and to guide them through the wealth of information resources available at UNC and beyond.

The Guides homepage provides a portal to guides that provide an organized and quick connection to HSL and other UNC-Chapel Hill resources, as well as other librarian-vetted health affairs information.  The page also highlights “featured guides,” which currently includes a new guide called New to HSL? Quick Tips created to help new users of HSL resources and services.  This guide includes information about hours, printing, wireless, computers, study rooms, collections, and places to eat near the library.

Beyond simply bookmarking a guide, users can set up RSS feeds, email alerts and take advantage of a variety of social media tools to stay connected with and share information from the guides.

As always, library staff members are here to help users, either in person or via chat, email, text or phone. All the information library users need to contact a librarian can be found via the Ask a Librarian link, which is prominently featured throughout the HSL web pages.
