Estelle Ward Lawson Collection

Estelle Ward Lawson (1874-1949) was a member of the Orange County, NC, Circle of the International Order of King’s Daughters and Sons. Founded in 1886 in New York as The King’s Daughters, the interdenominational order is dedicated to Christian philanthropic service including the provision of health services to the poor and under privileged.

The collection of books and other materials reflect the work done by Estelle Ward Lawson and other women who have brought health care to the underserved. The collection includes published and unpublished letters, memoirs and personal accounts by women health care providers and accounts of King’s Daughters medically related activities.
