Gaston Sirjean was born on March 26, 1904 in Pélissier (department of Oran, Algeria). He received his Doctorat en Médecine from the Université d’Alger in 1931.

While Sirjean did not write many medical articles, he does appear to have had a keen interest in the history and genealogy of the European royal houses, which led to the publication of approximately 14 books. His multi-volume Encyclopédie généalogique des maisons souveraines du monde won the Prix Broquette-Gonin for history from the Académie Française in 1965.
