New Location for Health Sciences Special Collections Staff July 1

By wp_aedile June 26, 2018

Beginning July 1, special collections employees Dawne Lucas, Barbara Tysinger and Susan Jones will move from the Health Sciences Library to the Wilson Special Collections Library.

Over the next year, the Libraries will also move health sciences special collections from the Health Sciences Library (HSL) to Wilson Library.

In making these changes, our goal is to expand access to rare health sciences materials, in a space that is dedicated to the use, exploration and visibility of special collections. Researchers will enjoy more hours each week in which to use these materials, including on weekends. We will also be able to provide better support for research and teaching with all special collections, including interdisciplinary work.

Access to health sciences special collections and assistance

Beginning July 1, HSL special collections materials will be served in the Wilson Library special collections research room. Researchers must request HSL special collections materials at least 48 hours in advance. Researchers are encouraged to contact wilsonlibrary@unc.edu in advance of their visit.

Bullitt History of Medicine Club programs and Anatomy Day will continue to take place at the Health Sciences Library.

We look forward through this move to strengthening our approach in these areas, and to working with researchers, instructors and learners using health sciences special collections!
